St. Petersburg Police have arrested a suspect in the double murders on a house boat at Loggerhead Marina.
He's Raynaldo Figueroa-Sanabria and he is in custody in Nash County, North Carolina. He had an outstanding warrant for trafficking in cocaine.
The victims have been identified as 75-year-old John Joseph Travlos and his girlfriend, 74-year-old Germana Morin, who lived with him on the boat.
Detectives said a massage therapist showed up to the boat for a scheduled appointment at around 11 a.m. Friday and saw something out of the ordinary. She was concerned enough to notify a marina employee; they found two bodies on the boat and called police.
Investigators say the two died of upper body trauma, but were not any more specific about their injuries.
"You're talking within a block and a half of my home, so apparently if it happened sometime last night, it was right underneath my nose," said Antoine Hughes, who lives nearby.
Other neighbors said they recognized the boat, which had the name "Relax Inn" on the side.
"It's the biggest boat over there," said Paula Barrett, who lives across the street from the marina and said she saw the couple earlier in the week. "They wave, I wave and I said 'hello' to them once. They were in a golf cart a few days ago riding around."
Police said the victims were seen alive as recently as Thursday."I'm scared. It's scary," Barrett said. "Until we know what happened, it's very scary."
