Long Island College Hospital could close

MYFOXNY.COM -

Financially strapped Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn was ordered to close by state officials, but a judge ordered it remain open while a legal battle is fought.

"We've gone to court twice and we've won twice. A judge has ordered a hearing on May 1 and has ordered SUNY Downstate which took over LICH release all the financial records. They have not, making it difficult to asses are you doing well or not," says Dr. Toomas Sorra, past president of LICH medical staff.

The 150 year old hospital is run by SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
