Crews are using sonar equipment, helicopters and boats to search for a missing boater in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Coast Guard says 49-year-old Michael Douglas Rhine of Pinellas Park fell overboard as he was trying to fix the engine on his boat Sunday.
Rhine was with his wife, deputies say, and she never saw him come back up. Boaters told us the area, which is Bunces Pass near Fort Desoto Park, has had a very strong current.
"The current is so fast you could just be moving and all of a sudden it will just take you down," said boater Sylvia Lindsey.
Several rescue teams were called out Sunday, but they stopped because of poor visibility. They were back out looking for Rhine at daybreak.
They say they will continue searching for him until the sun goes down, then resume the search Tuesday morning.
