MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

A deadly rollover crash closed westbound Interstate 94 at 49th Avenue in north Minneapolis for several hours on Sunday afternoon.

Lt. Eric Roeske, of the Minnesota State Patrol, confirmed at least three people were killed and five people were injured. North Memorial Medical Center told FOX 9 News at least three of the five who survived are in critical condition.  A fourth person is in serious condition, and no information has been released about the fifth.

All victims were traveling in a minivan that overturned, and several were ejected.

Officials say the three-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 1 p.m. The vehicles involved were a 2011 Jeep Patriot, a 2003 Honda Odyssey and a 2000 Toyota Sienna, according to the State Patrol.

Troopers identified the driver of the Jeep as 18-year-old Casie Pawlik, of Brooklyn Park. The driver of the Honda Odyssey was identified as 38-year-old Roni Oberuomo, of Brooklyn Center. Neither driver suffered any apparent injury, officials said.

None of the occupants of the Toyota Sienna have been identified so far; however, troopers confirmed there were eight people inside the van at the time of rollover crash.

All lanes of traffic were reopened to traffic at about 4:30 p.m.

Although the investigation remains ongoing, Roeske said investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

Authorities do believe the driver of the minivan was wearing a seat-belt, but Roeske said those who were thrown likely were not or did not have them fastened properly.

More information is expected to be released on Monday.
