PORT CHARLOTTE (FOX 13) -

Authorities in Charlotte County are asking for the public's assistance in locating an armed robbery suspect.

The unidentified man committed a pair of similar crimes Friday night in Port Charlotte. The first incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. at the 7/11 location at 330 Kings Highway.

The second about an hour later at a Circle K convenience store at 41 Tamiami Trail.

According to a Charlotte County Sheriff's Office report the suspect is a young male who stands approximately 5' tall. In each case he displayed a gun and demanded money from a store clerk.

He was wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and no shoes. The suspect – who covered his face with a mask - has a medium build and weighs between 100 and 130 pounds.

Investigators say he fled both scenes on foot before jumping into a dark, four-door older model vehicle, possibly a Toyota with a Florida tag.

If you have any information about the suspect's whereabouts or these incidents, please contact the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office at 941-639-2101.

If you wish to remain anonymous you can call Crime Stoppers at 800-780-8477.
