'Cirque du Soleil: Totem' at CitiField

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

"Cirque du Soleil" is back in New York with its astonishing production "Totem." I got to go behind the scenes to meet some of the cast and I even got to try out a few of the acts.

"Totem" is based on the evolution of mankind. It takes us from our animalistic state from amphibians to apes and to humans. It then lifts us onwards up and upwards as we experience our desire to fly.

With 11 acts and 46 performers you can imagine the amount of costumes, accessories and monkey masks in the wardrobe department.

From glow in the dark costumes, monkey suits, Native American-styled clothes and even green amphibians. Speaking of frogs, I met the Cirque artists that flipped and swung from bar to bar: Caoliang Wang and Umihiko Miya.

I may not be as good a gymnast as these guys but I sure gave it a good try.

Sarah Tessier and Guilhem Cauchois, the trapeze duo, are what we call "love birds."

"Cirque du Soleil: Totem" is playing at CitiField until May 12, 2013.

News isn't breaking -- it's already broken apart into something completely different than it once was. And all you need are these two reliable sources to verify that fact: the millennial generation and one a few before it.It's unclear what's scarier: how much news has changed or that someone knows Joel Waldman and not Murrow, Cronkite or Brokaw. Either way, with the emergence of everything from Twitter and Facebook and alternative news websites from Mashable to Gawker.

Music is a powerful force that impacts how we feel, think and react to many things in life. Music has healing power, sets a mood and even influences how we eat and shop. Whether you're at the grocery store or shoe shopping, there's usually music on. Music is everywhere and we can listen to whatever we want.
