The U.S. Postal Service is caught in a game of he-said, she-said with Lakeland Electric over some missing bills.
The electric company says hundreds, possibly even thousands, of bills turned up missing, and they believe the bills were damaged or burned up in a fiery crash on I-75 last month.
A postal service truck hauling mail caught fire after it collided with a guard rail and then was struck by a garbage truck.
Company officials say some of the bills they've gotten back are burned, but there's one issue. The postal service claims there were no bills on the truck.
Either way, Lakeland Electric says it's waving the late fees of all customers as long as they contact them.
