Authorities in Citrus County are asking for the public's assistance in locating a registered sex offender accused of murder.
Gregory Scott Holub is believed to be armed and dangerous.
According to a Citrus County Sheriff's Office report the suspect shot Deseray Lynn Bowles early Sunday morning in Floral City. Bowles, a 24-year-old Inverness resident, was transported to Citrus Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Holub, 29, resides in Bradenton according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's sex offender registry. He was last seen fleeing from the scene on foot.
At approximately 3:50 a.m. deputies were dispatched to 10495 East Rabbit Lane in Floral City in response to an injured person call. Witnesses had taken Bowles to that location seeking help.
Holub stands 6' tall, weighs about 180 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and a brown hooded sweatshirt.
The suspect was deemed a sex offender due to a 2003 conviction on a lewd and lascivious battery charge in Citrus County. Holub has served two stints in the state prison system.
He was released in October after serving a little more than two years for failing to comply with his the guidelines of his sex offender status.
