Crews with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue are battling a large brush fire that broke out just before noon Saturday in Ruskin.
As of 1:30 p.m. the southbound and northbound lanes of Interstate 75 were closed due to visibility issues created by the smoke from the blaze. Just after 3 p.m. the Florida Highway Patrol re-opened the southbound lanes.
Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and troopers with FHP are assisting with traffic flow problems. Northbound drivers are being diverted off the Interstate at the Sun City Center exit.
So far no injuries have been reported but some structures have been damaged by the flames.
According to a HCFR report the fire stated on a five-acre parcel near the intersection of 27th St. Southeast just west of I-75.
