Police have named the man in Thursday's fatal accident at a water treatment facility and said he died falling from a scissor lift.
Homero Juarez was inside the basket of a lift while using a pressurized liquid concrete hose. When the hose turned on, it caused a recoil at the nozzle, which propelled him backward and out of the basket, investigators said.
He fell 30 feet to his death.
Juarez, 52, was subcontracted by the city to re-surface the inside of a water tank. He was wearing a safety harness, but it was not secured to the basket.
He worked for Spectrum Contracting out of Naples. The water plant is off 26th Avenue North near Walter Fuller Park.
No criminal charged will be filed.
