A Bay area teenager is living in a glass box outside the Brandon Mall for the next week, and it's all for a good cause.
His name is Zach Bonner. He's from Valrico, and he hopes his stunt will raise money and awareness to fight childhood hunger.
It's not a new fight for Bonner, who first walked across the country to raise money and awareness for the cause. When he was just 6 years old, he walked around his neighborhood to collect canned goods.
But living in an 8x8x8 box for a week is a new one for the now 15-year-old.
"I'm going to be staying in this for the next week to fight homelessness and hunger," Bonner said. "It's a big non-perishable food drive, so we're asking people to come out and donate cans and things like that – food. It's also a big fundraiser for the Little Red Wagon Foundation, so if they don't want to donate cans, they can donate monetarily."
It doesn't help that it was quite cold Thursday night and Friday morning, but the good news is temperatures are supposed to warm.
"Whatever temperature it is outside it's magnified in here," he said of the Plexiglas box. "If it's cold, it's just freezing in here. If it's warm, then it's burning up in here, so it's really kind of strange."
Bonner will be out
there until Wednesday if you'd like to stop and help out.
