Atlanta police flooded the streets of Buckhead on Wednesday night with extra law enforcement officers in the wake of a series of burglaries and armed robberies, and carjackings. That extra presence was not enough to prevent one resident from being kidnapped from his home.
The incident happened on Karland Drive in Buckhead. Police say the man was approached by two men while trying to relax outside his home, and one of the men put a gun to his head. They say the two men kidnapped the victim in his car.
"He was outside his home when the assailants came up, took control of him and took him to another location -- an ATM to withdraw money. It was at his point -- probably 25 minutes or so later -- he was able to call 911 from the southwest side of town," said Captain Tim Peak of the Atlanta Police Department.
Police also found the victim's car in the same location. Investigators say no one was hurt.
The crimes are not committed by one group.
