James Foster refuses to believe his 23-year-old son Tony brutally killed his best friend of 15 years.
"Never been violent, never and I'm just not buying the fact that he did that to his best friend," Foster said.
But deputies say Tony Foster did kill his best friend, Josh Deas and, Deas' roommate Ken Simmons.
They were found beaten to death inside their mobile home in Seffner on Sunday.
Detectives say the killer used a hatchet or ax to murder them both.
Investigators collected evidence, dusted for fingerprints and searched for clues, which led them to Tony Foster.
They say he drove Simmons' stolen car to a pawn shop where he was trying to sell items belonging to his best friend.
None of this makes sense to Foster's dad, who watched both boys grow up together.
"Those boys, he lived with us. I raised him for five years, he's Tony's best friend. Doing that to one of his best friends, I'm sorry I just can't take it," Foster said.
On Wednesday, Foster made his first appearance in court. He's facing two counts of first degree murder, but Foster stands by his son.
"I'm sorry, I think they have the wrong person," Foster said.
