Police in Sandy Springs are searching for a man they believe seriously wounded his estranged girlfriend on Sunday. Shawn Crews remains in serious condition after being shot in the face.
Police believe Matthew Terry, 42, shot the 38-year-old Crews at her home during an argument at the Chastain Apartments on Roswell Road at around 5 p.m. They say the couple's 4-year-old child was home during the shooting, but was not harmed.
"Well, from what we know, the victim came home, and Matthew Terry had entered into her house. He essentially burglarized the house. He was inside waiting on her. At some point an argument ensued, and that was followed by several gunshots," said Capt. Steve Rose with the Sandy Springs Police Department.
According to police, Crews was taken to Grady Hospital and is recovering.
Terry is 5'9" tall and weighs 227 pounds. Investigators say Terry left the scene in the victim's car, a Mercedes C-280 with New York license plate FLX-3586. They say he also owns a black Cadillac Escalade with a New York license plate ETJ-6098.
Investigators say Terry is facing charges of aggravated assault, burglary, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Police consider Terry armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is urged to call Sandy Springs police at 770-551-6900 or dial 911.
