A Port Charlotte man being sought in connection with a bank robbery has turned himself in.
Eli Cummings Rogers, 40, was booked into the Charlotte County Jail early Saturday. He is being held without bond.
According to a Charlotte County Sheriff's Office report a warrant was issued for the suspect's arrest on bank robbery charges on Friday after several tips came in identifying him as the man who robbed a Port Charlotte bank on Tuesday,
Surveillance pictures from the bank were released through the media on Thursday. At the time of the crime Rogers had some hair but investigators say he shaved it to avoid detection.
Deputies responded to the C1 Bank at 1950 Tamiami Trail on Tuesday just before 12:30 p.m. in response to a robbery call. Rogers allegedly entered the bank wearing blue jeans and a gray long-sleeved t-shirt.
He walked up to the counter and demanded cash from a teller. A perimeter was set up around the bank but the suspect managed to escape.
Rogers has one prior arrest in Charlotte County for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license. He was arrested by deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office on a disturbing the peace charge in 2008.
