WINTER HAVEN (FOX 13) -
Legoland Florida just unveiled its newest goal: To introduce kids and families to the mystical 'World of Chima.'
In Chima, animal clans compete for chi, which energizes them and their vehicles.
It probably won't be long before the idea takes off. Legoland is going all out. It is expanding its park with a new World of Chima attraction that includes an interactive boat ride and an arena where kids can compete in Chima-themed games.
It is also launching a new cartoon about Chima on the Cartoon Network, and manufacturing a new line of Chima-based toys.
The push is expected to be in full swing by July. The park says, according to its test marketing, Chima is already going over big.
"This is also a reflection of the overall success of the park, which has already enabled us to open a new water park and build multiple new attractions, " stated general manager Adrian Jones.
Chima isn't all fantasy. There is a bottom-line payoff for Winter Haven and Polk County. Right now,
Legoland Florida is employing 150 temporary workers to build the World of Chima attraction. After it is complete, it will bring 50 permanent jobs to the area.
