We're learning more details about the man behind a terror scare Monday at the University of Central Florida.
James Oliver Seevakumaran's body was found in a UCF dorm room with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and police say they found guns and explosives nearby.
Seevakumaran is a 2001 graduate of Seminole High School in Pinellas County. He also attended Seminole Elementary and Middle schools.
Police say he had formed a calculated plan to carry out an attack on UCF's campus, an attack that could have proved tragic. Police say he pulled the fire alarm at the Tower 1 dorm just before 12:30 a.m., causing an evacuation of the building.
That's when police received a 911 call from his roommate. Authorities were able to rescue that student. When they arrived in the room, they found Seevakumaran with a single gunshot wound to the head.
They also found several guns and IEDs in a backpack. Investigators said he had a plan and a timeline of how he was going to carry out an attack on other students.
"Yes, I walked past him a bunch of times like doing laundry or whatever. He was literally two doors down from me," said Adrian Padron, UCF student.
"This like SWAT guy with his gun – I've never seen a gun this big in person, just comes screaming at everyone to move, move, move!" Padron continued.
Seevakumaran was arrested in Seminole County in 2006 by a Florida Highway Patrol Officer for not having a valid driver's license. University officials say he enrolled at UCF in Fall 2010 but was not enrolled for this spring and was in the process of being removed from Tower 1 because of not paying.
His family now lives in Sarasota. The Sarasota Police Department -- which assisted UCF police in notifying his next of kin -- released a statement of behalf of the family Tuesday:
"The family of James Oliver Seevakumaran states that James was a loner and did not have a history of violence. The family does not wish to make any further comments to the media, and they are requesting privacy during this difficult time."
