ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A 12-year-old middle school student faces expulsion and arrest after authorities say he had two guns -- one a loaded MAC-10 -- in his backpack at school.
The student, who has no past criminal history, is a seventh-grader at Glenridge Middle, Orlando Police said.
According to police, at about noon, a school resource officer received a tip about a student with a gun in his backpack. One is described as a loaded Mac-10 and the other a .380. The student was taken into custody.
The school was never on lockdown, and no students nor the school were in danger, officials said.
"The student is no longer at the school, and disciplinary action will follow the code of student conduct," Orange County Public Schools spokeswoman Shari Bobinski said in a statement.
The child will be charged in juvenile court with one felony charge of possession of a firearm on school property.
