TAMPA (FOX 13) -

A jury has found Dontae Morris guilty of first degree murder in the 2010 death of Rodney Jones.

They also found him guilty of attempted robbery.

Jones was shot and killed outside the Cotton Club in Tampa in May of 2010.

He is accused of shooting and killing two Tampa police officers one month later.

Officers Jeffrey Kocab and David Curtis were shot and killed on June 29, 2010.

Prosecutors told the jury this week that Morris shot Jones in revenge for a previous robbery.

The defense did not call any witnesses, and the judge directly asked Morris today whether he wanted to testify. He affirmed that he decided not to testify.

Wednesday night after the verdict, Jones's family said their healing process could begin.

"Healing can truly start today," said Jones's sister Daphne Stephens. "I can say that because everytime you  drive downtown and come to the courthouse, it opens up that wound. So I honestly feel that our family can start healing today. "

Morris travels through the justice system are not through yet. He is accused of killing five people in two months, including officers Kocab and Curtis, and will have  three more trials after this one.
