Police looking for man after hit-and-run traffic stop

Posted: Updated:

St. Petersburg police want to find the man they say hit three officers and then took off.

Police say Adrian Lovett stopped near Neptune Drive and Beach Drive SE on Coquina Key. Officers had blocked off the intersection early Monday morning. When the officers walked up to his car, they say they smelled marijuana.

The officers asked Lovett to turn off his car and open his door. That's when they say Lovett sped off with his door open, which struck three officers. A passenger was arrested on possession of marijuana charges.

One of the officers suffered a concussion, police said. Lovett is wanted on attempted murder charges. He's 6-foot-2 and 130 pounds with a tattoo on his left and right forearm.

He may be in a silver four-door sedan. Anyone with information can call 727-893-7780.
