ATLANTA -

Police say a bus driver knocked a pole onto several cars during rush hour in downtown Atlanta on Monday.

Authorities say a Cobb Transit bus driver took out the pole when he turned right from the far left, cutting across three lanes of traffic at the intersection of Spring and Baker streets.

Kathy Houston said she had just left work when the pole crashed on top her car. She said she was lucky that no one was hurt.

"I mean there was three of us -- all the lanes were hit by the thing so it could have been really bad. We were all very, very lucky," said Houston.

Lori Cobbs said her windshield was smashed and the frame of her vehicle was bent by the pole.

"I didn't realize he was clipping the light until it bounced on my windshield," Cobbs said.

Cobb County Transit did not respond to FOX 5's request for comment. Atlanta police did say they cited the driver for failure to maintain lane and making an improper turn.
