Authorities in Charlotte County have released the name of a man whose body was found floating in a canal in Port Charlotte Friday morning.
Michael Christopher Brenner, 50, lived on the street where the waterway is located investigators say. Foul play is not suspected but the official cause of death is not yet known.
According to a Charlotte County Sheriff's Office report deputies responded to a call in the 3100 block of Saint James St. just after 11 a.m. Brenner's remains were found floating in the canal behind a residence.
The body was transported to the Medical Examiner's Office where an autopsy will be conducted.
No other information is available at this time as the investigation continues.
