Spring training baseball is a tradition in Florida, and so is the public financing of the sport.
The Governor wants to spend millions every year to make sure Major League teams don't leave the sunshine state for Arizona.
Is it worth the money? We looked back on the deal in the mid 1990s to build the New York Yankees a new spring home at Steinbrenner Field (originally called Legends Field.)
The initial construction cost was $17 million of local and state tax dollars.
