Teen expelled after school bus beating

LAND O' LAKES (FOX 13) -

The teenager who was caught on tape beating an honor roll student on the school bus has now been expelled.

The attack itself was bad enough, and the fact it was posted on Facebook for the whole world to see made it even worse.

The 17-year-old girl seen repeatedly hitting and punching her classmate was arrested last month on battery charges.

Tuesday, the Pasco County School Board voted to kick her out of school for the rest of the year.

In the video, you can see 16-year-old Chase Cristia on the school bus being ambushed and beaten .

No one stepped in to help, not even the bus driver.

Pasco deputies say the attacker posted the video on Facebook and bragged about it.

Chase says the girls who did this were mad at her because she stuck up for a friend the girls were also bullying.

We talked to Chase and her mother shortly after the attack.

"I want people to see a teenager to have experienced this, and parents to be aware. I don't want this to happen to somebody else," Chase said.

The 16-year-old girl who recorded the attack on her cell phone was also charged, and she was suspended from school.

We talked to Chase's mother, Tracy, on the phone today. She says Chase is now back at school, but the mental pain of what happened will linger long after her bruises have healed.

She believes the girl who attacked chase should have been expelled *permanently," not just for the rest of the school year.
