FOX 29 News has learned that police believe they have found the truck involved in a fatal hit-and-run Sunday night on the Black Horse Pike in Haddon Township, Camden County.
Authorities have not yet said who might have been driving the pickup that struck the woman after 7 p.m. on the 700 block of the Black Horse Pike, a mile at most from an exit off the Walt Whitman Bridge.
Police identified the woman Monday morning as Joyce Putmon, 67, of Blackwood. She was taken to the hospital after the incident but was later pronounced dead.
Putmon was apparently crossing all six lanes of the Black Horse Pike between a grocery store -- where she had just stopped -- and a southbound New Jersey Transit bus stop. There is no traffic light or pedestrian crosswalk right there.
Video from the scene shows the woman's gloves, groceries and a sneaker in the street.
Police reported that they were looking for a pickup truck that was possibly white in the front and gray in the back with a wooden, box-type structure on the back, possibly a produce container.
Shortly before 10 a.m. Monday, FOX 29's Steve Keeley reported on the phone from Gloucester City that police got a tip and believe they have found the truck involved in the incident.
The truck turned out to be midnight blue in color with a frozen seafood cooler container on it.
It was found in an industrial area just off of Broadway on the 200 block of King Street, parallel parked neatly just three inches from the curb. The truck had some front-end damage, including to its right front bumper, a headlight and a turn signal light.
Keeley reported that the truck was parked next to its owner's house.
Police were having the truck towed away to an impound lot for further examination.
There was no immediate word from police on who the truck's owner is or who might have been driving it.
Earlier, Keeley was live at the scene of the fatal hit-and-run and reported finding several people doing exactly what the Putmon did, crossing the busy road to get to or from the bus stop.
