A 67-year-old Spring Hill man died Saturday from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash in Lake County.

Richard Heckler was transported to Florida Hospital Deland where he later died. The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. on State Road 44 near the intersection of Jay St. in Eustis.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report Heckler was traveling west on his 2008 Honda Motorcycle when witnesses say an advertising sign flew into his windshield.

Heckler lost control of his bike, traveled into the eastbound lanes of SR 44 before veering onto the southern shoulder of the roadway and into a wall.

The official cause of the crash is still under investigation.
