PALM HARBOR (FOX 13) -

Florida Governor Rick Scott on Friday signed a death warrant for a 59-year-old Bay area man convicted in the 1980 murder of a Palm Harbor girl.

Larry Eugene Mann is scheduled to die by lethal injection on April 10th at 6 p.m. at the Florida State Prison in Starke.

On November 4, 1980 10-year-old Elisa Nelson vanished while on her way to school. Her bicycle was found later that day in a ditch about a mile from the school.

The next day the little girl's body was discovered in an orange grove. Investigators say Mann abducted Elisa and bludgeoned her to death. He was arrested four days after her remains were found.

In 1981 Mann was convicted on first-degree murder and kidnapping charges and was sentenced to death. Investigators say he has never denied killing Elisa.

A key piece of evidence in Mann's trial was a note written by the little girl's mother. It was found in the suspect's pick-up truck by his wife.
