David Lee Boone, 39, has a long list of prior arrests in Polk and Osceola counties. He has served three stints in the state prison system.
According to a Polk County Sheriff's Office report the suspect attempted to run down a deputy in a stolen pick-up truck on Wednesday. The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 27 near Davenport.
The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop when he discovered the vehicle was stolen. The driver, later identified as Boone, attempted to flee but instead got the vehicle stuck in some sand.
The report states Boone then put the truck in reverse and struck the deputy and his cruiser before fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. Investigators say the Dodge pick-up truck was stolen from a location in Hillsborough County on February 16th.
A warrant has been issued for Boone's arrest on the following charges stemming from this incident – aggravated battery on a LEO, aggravated fleeing to elude and resisting arrest with violence.
Deputies were already looking for Boone on a probation violation. The suspect's last known address is in Haines City. If you have any information on his whereabouts please contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 863-298-6200.
