Woman Charged With Fraud as Fake Sandy Victim

Posted: Updated:

34-year-old Angela Zane of Pennsville NJ has been charged with theft by deception, falsifying documents and forgery after allegedly ripping off FEMA, and collecting $12,000 after posing as a Hurricane Sandy victim.

Pennsville police announced the charges after a two week investigation in cooperation with the Homeland Security Office of Inspector General.

Police say Zane falsely listed a home on the 1000 block of South Broadway Avenue as heavily damaged by Hurricane Sandy last year.

Investigators told FOX29 she never lived at the residence. In fact, they say it was deserted for some time.

Investigators said Zane then falsely notified FEMA of a new home she was renting on Chestnut St, which actually is a pet grooming company she does not own.

The mother of Zane would only tell FOX29 her daughter was innocent when we visited her house for a comment. Zane herself did not answer.

Police said Zane was jailed on $50,000 bail but was released and is currently awaiting a day in court.

An armed deli robbery is caught on camera. Two brazen gunmen held up the store owner with the man's kids right nearby. It's scary enough having armed gunmen storm your business.
