One dead after Lake Wales fire

One person is dead after a house fire in rural Polk County.

According to county officials, it was around 2 a.m. when Polk County Fire Rescue received a call about a single-story residential fire on Alturas Babson Park Cutoff Road in Lake Wales.

When firefighters arrived, they found a fully engulfed wood frame house. Crews had a hard time battling the blaze because of " excessive personal belongings" inside the home.

One person was found dead inside.

Detectives are still on scene conducting a death investigation.
