It's been a four-year struggle, but the New Tampa Boulevard Bridge finally opens Wednesday.
The city collected the money for the project and encouraged businesses to locate to the area, promising them the bridge would be built to give them better access over I-75.
Then people started protesting and those who worked and lived in the area found themselves gridlocked in traffic.
A ceremony is scheduled for the $12.8-million bridge. Mayor Bob Buckhorn will be there.
