Police say a 23-year-old man spitefully attacked a CVS employee with a knife Monday morning in Largo, and the man could not explain why he did so.
Lorenzo Guerrero was under the influence of cocaine, synthetic drugs and alcohol at the time, police said. The attacked happened just after midnight at the CVS at 4000 East Bay Drive.
Police say Guerrero entered the store with a mask and stabbed an employee multiple times. He then ran out of the store on foot, leaving his car in the parking lot.
It doesn't appear that Guerrero took anything, or that he had a relationship with the employee. Police asked him why he attacked the employee, and he said he didn't know.
Guerrero, who is charged with attempted first degree murder, remains in the Pinellas County Jail. He is also suspected in an attempted burglary at a nearby Fairway convenient store just before the attack.
The employee was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
