Authorities in Hillsborough County have issued an arrest warrant for a convicted felon being sought on an attempted murder charge.
The incident occurred just before 5 a.m. Sunday morning near the intersection of East 139th Ave. and North 15th St. in Tampa.
According to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office report that is where Jose Aviles Maldonado and Brian Agee engaged in a verbal dispute that quickly turned violent.
Maldonado, 32, was driving a blue-colored Sports Utility Vehicle with a temporary tag. He exited the vehicle, brandished a handgun and fired twice in the direction of Agee.
The 43-year-old Tampa man was hit once in the right arm and once in the abdomen. Maldonado jumped back in his vehicle and fled the scene.
Agee was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His condition is not known.
Tampa Police later recovered the suspect's vehicle near the intersection of 32nd and 12th streets.
Maldonado is a convicted felon who served two years in state prison for an aggravated battery with a deadly weapon conviction out of Hillsborough County. He stands between 5'9'' and 5'11'' tall, has a medium build, black hair and brown eyes. He weighs about 170 pounds the report states.
The suspect was last seen wearing a gray sweat shirt, unknown colored shorts and a hat. Maldonado is armed and considered dangerous.
