NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Two men were involved in separate subway accidents Saturday night and Sunday morning, one of the men was killed while the other lost his legs.

The first incident happened around 9:30 a.m. when the unidentified victim was near the edge of the platform at Eighth Avenue and West 23rd Street in Chelsea as the E train approached the station.

Witnesses told the New York Post the man stepped back about 10 feet before taking a running jump as the train arrived, killing him instantly.

The incident caused the suspension of C trains and rerouted E trains below 53rd Street and Fifth Avenue for about two hours.

The second incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night when the victim fell into the path of a D train at a Bronx subway station.

According to the Post, and MTA worker said the unidentified man, who was drunk, got up from a bench, stumbled across the platform, and fell to the tracks at the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium.

The Post said the man attempted to get up but the arriving train crushed and severed both of his legs. EMS arrived and took the man to a nearby hospital where he is expected to survive, according to police.

The MTA says there have now been seven subway-related deaths of injuries in the past six days. The MTA has been urging customers to be careful around the tracks.
