It's official: Rays slugger Evan Longoria is the proud papa of a baby girl.
Longoria's girlfriend Jaime Edmondson tweeted a pic of the baby Friday night.
Her name is Elle Leona Longoria, and she is 4.1 pounds and 18 inches long.
"@Evan3Longoria & I are so proud to welcome Elle Leona Longoria to the world," Edmondson said.
The baby was born on Wednesday. Evan Longoria left spring training that morning, and the team said Edmondson was being induced.
"Babies have no particular timetable," Rays coach Joe Maddon said on Wednesday. "There are certain things that supersede or are much more important than what we do on a baseball field, and this is one of them."
