The crime the juvenile is charged in occurred on January 15th at a convenience store in Dunedin.Authorities in Pinellas County have made an arrest in connection with the armed robbery of a convenience store in Dunedin last month.
The 16-year-old suspect turned himself in Friday afternoon. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on armed robbery and assault charges.
We are not naming the suspect due to his age. Detectives are still looking for a second suspect in the case.
According to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office report two men robbed the Munchees location at 614 Union St. on January 15th. Investigators say the suspects entered the store just after 9:30 p.m. One of them went behind the counter, pointed a weapon at the clerk and demanded cash.
Surveillance video also shows the armed man striking the clerk in the head.
Earlier this week PCSO released the video through the media. Several tips came in identifying the arrested teen as the man with weapon.
At least two callers recognized the suspect through his appearance and mannerisms.
On January 27th the Clearwater Police Department issued a warrant for the teen for his role in the January 25th shooting of a Pinellas County man.
If you have any information about the second suspect in this case or any other information about the crime, please contact Detective Jeff Capra with PCSO's Robbery/Homicide unit at 727-582-6200.
Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
