PHOENIX (AP) - A company has been fined $100,000 for hazardous waste violations at its central Phoenix plating facility.
The state Department of Environmental Quality announced Friday that PAS Technologies Inc. was cited for 15 violations, including the release of hexavalent chromium and illegally treating cyanide wastewater.
The case against PAS Technologies included 10 different violations of disposal of hazardous waste without a permit.
PAS Technologies also was cited failure to perform hazardous waste determination and four violations in its employee training, handling, marking and storage of waste fluorescent lamps.
ADEQ launched the Plating Initiative in 2008 after inspections showed many facilities weren't in compliance with the state law that regulates hazardous waste.
The fine is part of a consent judgment entered in Maricopa County Superior Court. It's still subject to court approval.
