NEW PORT RICHEY (FOX 13) -
Police say the suspect
in Monday's murder-suicide in New Port Richey was a family friend.
Investigators have
identified him as 56-year-old Rex Eugene Shelton, who police say killed Tina
Diane Lane, 37.
Police say Shelton was a
close friend of Lane's ex-husband, and in fact, Shelton had been living with
him.
But it remains unclear
exactly what Shelton's contact was with Lane. Police are still investigating
that.
Investigators say
sometime Monday Shelton went to her home, killed her in her bedroom, and then
hung himself in the garage.
Police say she died of upper body trauma.
