A drug deal gone badly triggered a disagreement that led to the stabbing death of a 25-year-old Pasco County man Saturday night.
Late Sunday deputies located, apprehended and charged a homeless man with murder. Kevin Dylan Whittaker, 26, is being held without bond at the Pasco County Jail.
According to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report Cory Lee Keeler, the victim in the case, was dropped off at Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point in Hudson just after 9 p.m. Saturday.
He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Investigators say Whittaker stabbed Keeler numerous times while trying to rob him. The victim fought back and the suspect kept stabbing him.
The violent assault occurred in front of a residence on Sandy Dr. in Port Richey.
Whittaker is no stranger to law enforcement. He's been arrested six times in Pasco County since 2008 and he did six months in state prison for a dealing in stolen property conviction in 2009.
Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
