Freezing Rain Expected To Impact Monday Morning Commute

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Sleet and freezing rain moving in overnight could impact your Monday morning commute.

A freezing rain advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, goes in effect at 3 a.m. Monday morning through 10 a.m. for Berks, Bucks, Chester, Lancaster, Mercer and Montgomery counties.

The National Weather Service says there's a chance for up to one 10th of an inch of ice accumulation on exposed surfaces.

FOX 29 Meteorologist Caitlin Roth says although the freezing rain will be short-lived, it will still make for icy conditions in areas covered by the freezing rain advisory.

The best chance to see the freezing rain will be between 5-7 a.m. before warmer air moves in and it switches to just rain.

Areas in the Poconos and extreme northwest New Jersey will take the longest to see the freezing train transform to just rain.

By Monday afternoon, the system will break apart, leaving for cloudy conditions for the rest of the day.

For the rest of the week, temperatures should remain in the 40s until the weekend, when we could see the temperatures drop into the 30s.
