A little girl hit and killed by a vehicle on Busch Boulevard this week will be remembered Thursday.
Her family is holding a memorial for the 8-year-old who died while sharing a tradition with her sister. Each Sunday, Darcien Shubbar and her daughters would walk to a nearby store to get donuts and hot chocolate.
This past Sunday she decided to let her daughters make the trip on her own, and Jayla Shubbar never made it back.
She was hit by an SUV trying to cross Busch near 14th Street. The mother says she tried to teach her children how to cross the street safely, and she went against her gut to let them go by themselves.
The little girl was active at her school and touched the lives of many.
