ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) -
A dump truck overturned on the Howard Frankland Bridge this morning, spilling a load of gravel onto both sides of I-275 and snarling traffic in each direction.
The view from SkyFOX showed the mess on the bridge, which began just after 10 a.m. At times, only one lane of traffic was getting by southbound. Briefly, all of the lanes were closed as a bulldozer arrived to clean up the stones.
Northbound traffic was able to get by slowly in an outside lane.
Just before 1 p.m., the mess was gone and traffic was flowing again.
FHP investigators say the truck blew a tire, which caused the driver to lose control and eventually overturn just before the 4th Street exit.
No one was hurt.
