A Bay area family will be reunited Monday after five years. The much-anticipated homecoming was delayed when Fred Ngwashi missed his connecting flight in New York.
The native of Cameroon was deported in 2007. He came to the United States in the 80s on a student work visa. The INS sent letters to the family, however, that said he was going to be deported because the visa had expired.
But a lawyer told him it was under appeal, and to wait it out. The family heard nothing else until a knock at the door came, and he was arrested.
Ngwashi will arrive at Tampa International Airport Monday after receiving his green card last month.
