RIVERVIEW (FOX 13) -
Crews with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue had a busy afternoon.
A brush fire broke out just before noon Saturday and before it was contained torched approximately 35 acres in Riverview. Fortunately the blaze damaged no structures and nobody was hurt.
According to a HCFR report the fire broke out in an area near the intersection of Rhodine Rd. and Rising Oak Trail in Southern Hillsborough County.
Residents in the area as well as a nearby horse rescue facility were buffered from the blaze by HCFR crews. They battled the flames for nearly six hours with assistant from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Forestry.
Most crews left the scene just after 6 p.m. but a few stuck around to battle any hotspots left behind.
It is not yet known what sparked the fire.
