Flooded streets, fallen trees and downed wires created some dangerous situations across the area overnight, including in Chester County, where emergency responders had to perform some water rescues.
In Honey Brook Township, an overflowing Brandywine Creek made for a really terrifying water rescue this morning.
"I was scared," said Marsha Delmonte. "I have to admit I was really scared because I said, 'What am I going to do? I'm out here by myself and I am 70-years-old.'"
Delmonte is one very lucky woman. On Thursday morning, while on her way to work, she and another driver both got stuck in high water along Beaver Dam Road at Birdell Road.
Fire officials say this area always floods during heavy rain, and today was no exception.
"Water was flooding the car," Delmonte said.
It was dark, the waters were high and the situation was dangerous. Police, fire and other emergency personnel were called to the scene.
Fortunately, in this case, they were able to walk both Delmonte and the other driver out of the high water to safety.
"I didn't realize that the road was so bad, honestly, because parts of it were not," she said. "And then I got to a point where it was bad, and the Lord was with me, because if I hadn't turned that wheel I wouldn't be talking to you."
Both drivers are OK. But police are warning people not to drive on flooded streets. It's just never, ever a good idea, FOX 29's Dawn Timmeney reported.
