NORTH PORT (FOX 13) -
Two middle school students are in custody after one brought an unloaded gun to school Tuesday.
Officers say a 13-year-old student had an unloaded 9mm handgun in his backpack at Imagine Middle School in North Port.
Detectives say a second student actually brought the gun to school, then gave it to the other student.
Both students were taken to the North Sarasota County Jail, and are charged with possession of a firearm while on school property.
They are in the custody of the Division of Juvenile Justice.
