It's called "be smart, use your cart," and Phase I begins Monday.
The city of Tampa's current blue, 18-gallon recycling bins will be replaced with green, 95-gallon carts.
City officials say the new bins will hold more recyclables, reduce litter, and easily roll to the curb and back. They also say the collection process will now be more efficient and effective for city workers.
The neighborhoods that recycle the most, according to a 2011 study, are getting the new bins first.
The program will be implemented over the next 18 months.
