One person was killed and another injured Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash on US Highway 301 near the intersection of Ohio Ave.
The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. and shut down the roadway in both directions for over two hours. One of them was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was transported to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries.
Seven HCFR units and 16 emergency service personnel responded to the scene. The cause of the crash is not yet known.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol also responded to collect data and to speak with witnesses. They will determine the cause of the crash.
The names of the drivers have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation continues.
