Detectives say Goforth, 51, committed a similar crime in November. He is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond.A Facebook tip lead authorities in Charlotte County to a car burglary suspect sought in connection with a December 20th incident at a Port Charlotte CVS Pharmacy location.
Tony Curtus Goforth was booked Friday into the Charlotte County Jail where he is being held without bond.
According to a Charlotte County Sheriff's Office report a CVS employee reported her vehicle was broken into and her purse snatched last month while the vehicle was sitting in the parking lot.
Surveillance video produced several still photographs that CCSO put on their Facebook page in hopes of receiving tips from the public. Earlier this week a caller identified Goforth as the man in the pictures.
The video also showed a man matching the suspect's description leaving the store on a bicycle the day of the burglary. Detectives showed Goforth the video during an interview on Thursday.
He allegedly admitted to riding his bicycle by the pharmacy on his way to his bail bondsman's office. Investigators also produced video showing Goforth near the vehicle with the victim's purse in his right hand.
The suspect said he took the cash but gave the purse to someone else. Goforth claims he stole the money because he owes several people who helped him pay a $15,000 bond for a similar crime committed in November.
He was arrested on theft, burglary and a violation of probation charge stemming from the November incident.
