A 57-year-old drug trafficking suspect was arrested Thursday night in Bradenton.
Demares Beatrice Castillo-Isa, who is also known by the name Lourdes Ortiz Canuelas, had been sought since August for her role in a large heroin ring.
She was booked into the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office where she is being held without bond.
According to a Sarasota County Sheriff's Office report the department was working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force when they arrested the suspect.
Castillo-Isa's last known address is 3100 Hawthorne St., Lot #69 in Sarasota the report states.
Investigators say the suspect was distributing large quantities of the illegal narcotic out of her home and out of a location in the 2800 block of Ringling Blvd. Undercover detectives with SCSO and the Sarasota Police Department allegedly obtained heroin from Castillo-Isa and two co-defendants.
The other two suspects were apprehended in June and are now facing federal charges related to the case. One witness allegedly procured 500 grams of heroin from the suspect over a period of several months.
Castillo-Isa was arrested on similar charges in Boston in 2009. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
